When our clients first came to us to help with their mountain home design, they had just purchased an acreage that was largely undeveloped - save for an older home that needed to be removed. Boasting spectacular views in all directions, the acreage nestled between the western side of the Rocky Mountains and the eastern slopes of the Purcells, near Golden, BC.
The plan was to design and build a custom home for now and into the future. One that they could grow old in. Our clients dreamed of a home that was cognizant of the environment both in its energy efficiency and its close relationships with the views and the land around.
Working closely with the client we designed a home that consisted of cozy and welcoming living spaces and split through the middle with a clerestory window hallway that spilled light into the space even in the dark of winter. The effect was of a vein of quartz running through granite.
Screened in porches greet the morning sun and back in the evening light.

"I loved being able to connect with these Golden clients at the beginning of their journey to their Forever Home. We began the home design with "bubble diagrams" to decide how best to use the space, and the house grew up organically from there".

"YOU EMPLOY STONE WOOD AND CONCRETE AND WITH THESE MATERIALS YOU BUILD HOUSES AND PALACES. THAT IS CONSTRUCTION. INGENUITY IS AT WORK. BUT SUDDENLY YOU TOUCH MY HEART, YOU DO ME GOOD, I AM HAPPY AND I SAY, "THIS IS BEAUTIFUL." THAT IS ARCHITECTURE. ART ENTERS IN."
